⚠️ Important: Only update a unit's firmware if it is not working correctly and the update is genuinely necessary. Avoid routine updates on units that are functioning normally.

Before You Begin

You must have manager access to perform a firmware update. If you do, visit the firmware update page here:
http://tachosafe.ro/rduadmin/updateterminals

Step-by-Step: How to Update Firmware

Step 1 – Check that the terminal is online

Look for one of these status indicators next to the terminal:

  • Online – the terminal is connected
  • Online (Roaming) – connected, but via a roaming network

If the terminal shows as offline, do not proceed.

Step 2 – Verify the connection

Click the "Check Connection" button (the first button in the terminal's row) to confirm the terminal is genuinely reachable before attempting the update.

Step 3 – Start the firmware update

Click the "Update Firmware" button to push the latest available firmware to the terminal.

What to Expect After Updating

Once the firmware has been successfully sent to the unit, you will see a confirmation message on screen.

Wait one minute, then click "View Log" next to the message field. The log should show a message confirming the firmware was updated successfully.

If the Update Doesn't Work

  • If the firmware version hasn't changed after the update, try again 3–5 more times.
  • If the over-the-air (OTA) update still fails after multiple attempts, you will need to update the firmware manually via USB. See: RDU FW and Bootloader Update (USB method)

⚠️ Known Risk

In rare cases, a failed firmware update can leave the terminal stuck in Bootloader mode, which means it will no longer come back online. This is why it is important to only update units that truly need it.
